Installing Internet VoIP Phone Service Is As Simple As Plug-And-Play |
Before you get started be sure you have everything that came with your internet VoIP phone adapater.
Double Check Your Current Configuration. You Shouldn't Plug anything in until you confirm your current setup. It should look something similar to the picture below and consist of a PC, a modem, and a router.
Below is a picture of what most common internet voip phone adapters look like from behind. Some will say "WAN" instead of router and some will say "LAN" instead of PC. This particular adapter makes it easy for you to know which cables go where. You should familiarize yourself with this as it will make setup easier later.
Step 1:
Alright now we're ready to get started. Take the Ethernet Cable that came with your internet voip phone adapter box and plug it into the port marked "Router" or "WAN".
Step 2:
Take that same ethernet cable and plug the other end into any open port on the back of your router as shown below.
Step 3:
Plug your telephone cord into the port labeled Line 1 on your internet phone adapater box. If you have 2 lines plug your second phone into Line 2.
Step 3A:
Before you go any further, confirm that your router and internet voip phone adapater box look something similar to the figure below.
Step 4:
Attach the power cord to the internet phone adapter box and plug it into a power source.
Step 5:
Confirm that your final configuration is similar to the setup below.
Step 6:
Wait 45 seconds and allow the lights to cycle through on your internet phone adapter box then check for a dial tone.
